End-of-Season Statistics Shared for 2013 - 2014 Broadway Theatre Season

The Broadway League has released end-of-season statistics for the 2013 - 2014 season, which began May 27, 2013 and ended May 25, 2014. For the 2013 - 2014 season, Broadway shows yielded $1.27 billion in grosses, and total attendances reached 12.21 million. All new and continuing productions ran a total of 1,496 playing weeks.

The 2013 - 2014 Broadway season concluded with grosses up (+11.4%), attendance up (+5.6%), and playing weeks up (+4.6%).

Furthermore, this past week was both the highest grossing and best attended Memorial Day week in recorded history.

"It's been another amazing season and Broadway is healthy and vibrant," says Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of the Broadway League. "With over a 5% increase in attendance, the diverse offerings on stage are clearly pleasing our audiences. As well, ticket buying is easier and alternate curtain times and more selections of matinee days make seeing a show convenient for every schedule."

The show tally is based on the final Tony Awards determinations of categories. The final numbers in accordance with the 2014 Tony Awards determinations are as follows:

44 productions opened during the 2013-2014 season which included 16 musicals (12 new, four revivals), 25 plays (10 new, 14 revivals, one return engagement), and three specials.

The 2013 - 2014 season gross was $1,268,881,236 billion with total attendance 12.21 million, compared to 2012 - 2013 season gross of $1,138,734,331 billion with total attendance 11.57 million, and the 2011 - 2012 season gross of $1,139,311,457 billion with total attendance at 12.33 million.
