Electronic Systems Outlook Summer 2017 Report Says: Healthy Business Climate

NSCA's Electronic Systems Outlook report has been updated for Summer 2017, and now includes construction outlook information based upon actual data from Q1 and Q2 of 2017, as well as a forecasted outlook for the remainder of the year and beyond.

Integrators continuously ask about market conditions and trends. NSCA has followed and reported on industry conditions for over 20 years, knowing that new construction is the best indicator of the future business climate. Understanding construction put-in-place totals allows NSCA to predict patterns of slowdowns, recoveries, and market/geographic changes for members.

Overall, the forecast for 2017 construction put-in-place calls for a six-percent increase. Although this is a drop from the hot pace of growth from the last few years, it seems to indicate that the recovery bounce is over and more normal growth is in store. Lodging construction is expected to see six-percent growth. Office construction is expected to slow to nine-percent growth in 2017. Commercial construction is forecast to lead the year at ten-percent growth, but will slow in later years.
