Philips Strand Lighting announces the Philips Selecon PLProfile4 LED luminaire is now shipping. A combination of LED source technology and precision optical design, the PLProfile4 LED expands the family of PL lighting fixtures and uses four high-power, RGBW LED chips to deliver endless color options along with precise beam control and pattern projections to give lighting designers everything they desire in a powerful and compact spot luminaire.

"The development of this luminaire started with the beam and quality of light that you get from an incandescent luminaire," began Pete Borchetta, product marketing manager. "We wanted to create a theatrical lighting instrument that worked and felt like its incandescent counterpart from the quality of light to its output and dimming. With the PLProfile4 we have achieved just that, a profile spotlight that does everything a designer and technician needs, but with the performance, responsiveness, and color you get out of a sophisticated high output, RGBW LED luminaire."

The PLProfile4 luminaire features four 120W RGBW LED chips which create over 6,000 lumens of output while delivering limitless color options and variable color temperatures from 2300K to 9970K in white. With interchangeable lens tubes, 360-degree barrel rotations and locking shutters, the PLProfile4 is available with seven optical systems including 15- to 35-degree and 25- to 50-degree Zoomspots, plus 14-,19-, 26-, 36-, and 50-degree fixed beams.

Borchetta continued, "Another key benefit of the PLProfile4 luminaire is that it is no longer necessary to change lamps or color filters. With less power consumption and no dimmer circuits necessary, the PLProfile4 LED will offer a multitude of cost and time savings for any theatre staff."

The PLProfile4 LED chips offer the same color mixing and calibrated white presets as all other PL family products, the company says. Additionally, the PLProfile4 comes complete with wireless DMX512 options and is compatible with Wireless Solution W-DMX, Lumen Radio, or City Theatrical Show DMX512 transmitters. The on-board LCD menu allows for easy luminaire set-up and addressing, and the PowerCon in and through connectors ensure simple installation.
