Nearly 700 Venues Support Day of Visibility for the Live Event Community

On the evening of September 22, nearly 700 venues and landmarks across Canada were lit red as part of a Day of Visibility for the country's thousands of live event workers who've lost their livelihoods due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The initiative was led by Live Event Community, an organization launched in March 2020 to support and share resources with live event professionals. Participants and supporters were encouraged to use the hashtags #LightUpLive and #EclaironsLesScenes when sharing photos and videos of red exteriors, and over the course of the evening, those posts generated six million unique viewers.

Additionally, Styx frontman Lawrence Gowan lent his support and performed as part of a livestreamed finale to underscore the importance of live events to the country's cultural and economic fabric while Rush bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee also shared a video supporting the initiative.

Participating venues and landmarks included the CN Tower, Calgary Tower, Niagara Falls, Rogers Arena, Roy Thomson Hall, the Grand Theatre de Quebec, Confederation Centre of the Arts, SaskTel Centre, Stratford Festival Theatre, Royal Theatre Victoria, and many more.

To watch the #LightUpLive / #EclaironsLesScenes finale video along with a host of testimonials from live event workers and entertainers, visit Live Event Community's YouTube channel.
