Chauvet -- An Imposing Presence at LDI

Chauvet Professional Nexus 4x4

Chauvet, a manufacturer of professional lighting, showed a diverse line of products from its four sub-brands including Chauvet Professional at LDI2012. Three energizing booths carried the creative touch of an amazing team: lighting designer Seth Jackson, co-lighting designer Nathan W. Scheuer, programmer Nate Alves, project manager Jack Rushen, and of the entire Chauvet team. Among the fixtures that received great feedback are soon-to-be-available Chauvet Professional Ovation series of theatrical luminaires, Chauvet Professional Legend 230SR Beam moving yoke, eye-candy LED wash light Chauvet Professional Nexus 4x4, and the rugged, high impact strobe Chauvet Professional Xeno 2500. Chauvet partnered with Parasol Systems of Canada to incorporate in the main booth design an autonomous cart system, built of independent, motorized and programmable carts that held eight Legend 230SR Beam lights.

Powered by 16 10W LEDs, Chauvet Professional Ovation F-165WW -- the line's Fresnel-style fixture -- delivers over 1,500 lux at five meters (13 degrees) without a significant temperature-related drop off. The fixture has an easily adjustable motorized zoom and works exceptionally well with barn doors to aid in glare reduction and beam shaping. Powered by 19 10W LEDs, Chauvet Professional Ovation E-190WW -- styled after the ellipsoidal spot fixtures -- delivers over 2,600 lux at five meters. Ovation E-190WW also has standard beam shaping shutters, a gobo/effect slot, and lens barrels that are interchangeable with other ERS fixtures. Both fixtures feature a color temperature of 3,100K, a beautiful flat field, a 16-bit dimming curve for a smooth rise of LED output that virtually eliminates low-end pop and the unique opportunity to update rental inventories.

The third fixture in the new Ovation series, Chauvet Professional Ovation C-1280FC, lights large cycloramas and theatrical backdrops with a full spectrum of colors without temperature-related drop off. Ovation C-1280FC has 128 two-watt RGBWA LEDs and delivers 237 lux at five meters. Color temperature ranges from 3,200K to 10,000K, and the selectable dimming curves ensure smooth fading transitions and compatibility with older, conventional stage luminaires.

Chauvet Professional Legend 230SR Beam is a compact, lightweight, intensely bright moving head beam, built for touring, live events, television sets, or clubs. Legend 230SR Beam has a tight 2.25-degree beam angle and houses a 230W Osram Sirius lamp, which makes this fixture strikingly bright at 96,000 lux at 15m. The incorporated high-quality glass optics and eight-facet rotating prism with zoom capabilities and motorized focus contribute to flawless hard-edged beams and energizing aerial effects accentuated by haze or fog. Operating at variable speeds, the trapezoidal 14-position (plus open) color wheel allows for better split colors and seamless transitions. Also featuring variable speeds, the gobo wheel has 17 gobos (plus open) for inspiring effects.

Chauvet Professional Nexus 4x4 is both eye-candy and a tour-ready wash light capable of delivering at once pixel-mapping display and a robust light output afforded by 16 20W RGB COB LEDs. The combination of COB emitters and a clever reflector yields a striking, diffused light richly drenched in saturated hues. Nexus 4x4 is controllable via Art-Net, Kling-Net, and DMX protocols and features interlocking hardware to build large arrays.

A rugged and high-impact strobe light, the new Chauvet Professional Xeno 2500 is powered by a 2,500W Xenon lamp that shoots energetic flashes of white light. When linking multiple units, built-in automated programs trigger pre-programmed shows via master/slave. Xeno 2500 is controlled by sound activation and DMX through three- and five-pin connectors.
