In Memoriam: Mark Conners

Mark Conners

Lighting&Sound America has learned of the passing of Mark Conners, most recently a rental account manager at Main Light.

In a statement, the company says, "It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Mark Conners. Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Debbie Conners; their daughter, Ashley Sherwin, her husband Adam Sherwin, and their children Amelia Sherwin (age four) and Scott Sherwin (age two); and their son, Kevin Conners, his wife Stacey Conners, and their son Raen Conners (age two). Throughout his life, Mark consistently made a positive impact on countless friends and colleagues who treasured his joyful spirit and warmth.

"With a remarkable 45-year career in the entertainment lighting industry, Mark's journey began working as a stagehand for a small local shop in Maryland, located beneath a laundromat -- he often laughed recalling an instance where soapy water flooded into their workspace after the laundromat's washers failed. From working as a stagehand, his passion and expertise grew, leading him to roles as a senior account executive at Bash, followed by significant positions at PRG in Las Vegas and then 4Wall Entertainment in Washington DC. Throughout his impressive career, Mark collaborated with diverse clients, ranging from local ballet productions to major corporate shows.

"Mark's latest position was held at Main Light, LLC, where he worked as a rental account executive for the Main Light East office in Wilmington, Delaware. Joining Main Light late in his career was particularly meaningful to Mark, who often described becoming a part of the team as 'feeling like coming home.'

"Mark was known not just for his decorated history in the lighting industry, but for his positive energy, kindness, and exceptional sense of humor, always ready with a joke to brighten everyone's day. His deep love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was evident in every interaction.

"Michael Cannon, owner of Main Light, LLC and longtime friend of Mark Conners, stated, 'Mark is one of the rare individuals in our industry who touched everyone's heart simply by being himself. His dedication to his customers, unwavering positivity, and corny sense of humor made him impossible not to love. His contributions and friendship left a lasting impact, and his absence is felt by all who were lucky enough to know him'."
