Diablo Sound Grows with the Acquisition of Electric WorkshopAfter 14 quiet months due to the pandemic, Diablo Sound has emerged with numerous recent projects and an expanding client list. Diablo Sound has always specialized in sound design, show control, and large project management, but larger lighting and video design efforts have generally been handled through partner companies. With the acquisition of Electric Workshop, Diablo Sound will now be able to bring some of the lighting and video design elements in-house, creating a more holistic approach to all aspects of production design, the company says. Electric Workshop has been an entertainment company specializing in lighting and video for live, television, and streaming events. Their milieu has encompassed everything from simple dry-hire rentals to full-service production design and management. Some of Electric Workshop's more notable clients included Nike and Fremantle (part of the RTL Group). As part of the acquisition, Diablo Sound has hired Electric Workshop's owner -- Julien V. Elstob -- as their new control programmer and entertainment systems designer. Elstob has valuable experience as a lighting and projection designer for corporate events, concerts, theatre, and dance, and has also worked as a production manager/technical director on touring projects. "I anticipate great things for 2022," states Drew Dalzell, president of Diablo Sound. "Adding Julien's skills and company assets to our own will allow Diablo Sound to grow and take on even more robust, adventurous projects."
