Philips Strand Lighting Console Donated to South African School by DWR Distribution One of South Africa's biggest stage equipment distributors is donating a Philips Strand Lighting 200 Plus lighting console to a local lighting school. DWR Distribution, which has been the exclusive South African distributor for Philips Entertainment brands Selecon and Strand Lighting since December 2010, made the gift to the Moonbox Theatre -- a 40-seat venue and lighting laboratory at the Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria. "The Moonbox is a very old theatre with a little stage," explained Gerda Kruger, manager of the Breytenbach Theatre at the university. "It's a performing venue and a lighting lab where we teach students the practical aspects of lighting." "This lighting desk will be used to train our students for productions as well as giving them the chance to experience a different lighting control desk. Funding is always a problem and it is only with the assistance of companies such as DWR that we can maintain high standards in our training." The team at DWR says that, 'When all is said and done, life and business is all about relationships, it was an exciting opportunity that allowed us to give something back and support the future of the industry." Since DWR Distribution set up four years ago the company has seen continuous growth and has quickly established itself as a crucial cog in the South African Entertainment industry machine. DWR managing director Duncan Riley says: "The South African market is a very active and growing arena. To be able to bring the Philips Entertainment ever-expanding range of innovative new lighting products to our territories plays a crucial role in DWR Distribution's growth and in our client's continued success."
