Prominent Polish School for the Performing Arts Upgrades Theatre Sound System with LEA Professional

The Workshop Musical Academy in Warsaw, Poland, is a performing arts school focused on developing young musical artists' interests and skills and preparing them for original theatre, film, and music projects. With classes held in two professionally-equipped rooms, including the school's own recording studio and a performance hall, the facility was looking for a stellar AV system to amplify performances.

Earlier this year, the Workshop Musical Academy made the decision to upgrade its performance hall sound system. The school frequently hosts a wide range of productions, from solo performances to full theater and concert performances. The academy brought in local AV integrator ESS-Audio, to design and install the new sound system, the integrator has been providing comprehensive audio and integration solutions for more than 30 years, and recently became a provider of amplifiers from LEA Professional.

"The school needed a flexible sound system that could be integrated with and support the hall's current AV system, projection system, and a future-planned large video wall," says Maciej Baranski, sound designer, ESS Audio. "To meet these requirements, the new sound system needed to deliver excellent sound quality, scalability, and ease of use."

Baranski explained that the academy's performance hall seats about 300. In addition to sound quality and connectivity flexibility, the school was interested in accessing the system remotely, allowing the ESS team to adjust and manage the system if issues arise.

"We specified a set of five Connect Series amplifiers from LEA Professional," says Baranski. "With the LEA amps, we have the sound quality, headroom, and extensive connectivity and flexibility we need for any scale of performance. But one of the biggest features that drew us to these amps was the cloud control which gives us the option to access and configure the amps remotely while the academy continues to grow and re-configure the system to meet almost any future need."

The CONNECT SERIES professional-grade amplifiers from LEA Professional are well suited for small- to medium-scale installations, featuring three ways to connect. Users can engage the built-in Wi-Fi access point, connect to the venue's Wi-Fi, or use the FAST Ethernet to connect to any local area network via Cat5 or Cat6 cable. The CONNECT SERIES also features cloud connectivity allowing users to harness the cloud for remote control, monitoring, notifications, and more from any personal device.

For this project ESS Audio used a mix of CONNECT SERIES models including the CONNECT 704D, 702D, and 354D. The models also feature HiZ and LoZ channel selectable analog inputs, Dante inputs, and external I/O control for remote on/off and fault monitoring.

"This installation went really well, and the customer is delighted with the results," adds Baranski. "We have used LEA amps in multiple installs in Poland now and they continue to exceed all our requirements. We look forward to deploying the LEA technology in more upcoming projects in the region."
