Dissecting Light: A Conversation and Demonstration with Lighting Designer Beverly EmmonsTony Award-winner Beverly Emmons has created lighting designs for dance, theater, and opera, including such noteworthy productions as Einstein on the Beach at the Metropolitan Opera, Broadway shows from Amadeus to Annie Get Your Gun, as well as with dance performances by Merce Cunningham, Bill T. Jones, and the Martha Graham Company. On Saturday, December 12, 10:30am to 12:00pm, Emmons comes to the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center, LPA Café, to talk about her craft and to offer a live demonstration of her tools. Attendees will participate in a closeup exploration of how theatrical lighting instruments work.
