Winners of LDI Awards Announced

Mod Truss and Blizzard Lighting won the award for large booth design at LDI 2016.

The LDI Awards were given out Saturday night at LDI, the annual trade show held in Las Vegas, October 17 - 23.

The Paky Award, named after Pasquale Quadri, founder of the Italian lighting manufacturer Clay Paky, was presented to Richard Belliveau, founder and chief technology officer of High End Systems.

Among the awards given for booth design, Show Sage/Dataton won in the small booth category, with GLP being cited for the most creative use of light, thanks to a light show designed by Matt Shimamoto. The nod for best product presentation went to Cosmic Truss for the death's head sculpture, made of truss, that loomed over the company's booth. Blizzard Lighting and Mod Truss won in the category of large booth design, for its imaginative presentation using battling robots.

In the category of best debuting product: sound, honorable mention went to The Sound AOC and DMX AOC Cat6 distribution devices by ProCo Sound. Taking the award was the LKO hybrid optical power connector by Link SRL.

In the category of best debuting product: widget, honorable mention went to EMX-cat Control Analyze Test by City Theatrical, with the winner being the xVision video converter by Theatrixx Technologies.

There were two honorable mentions in the category of best debuting product: special effects: Aqua Low Fog Vario 4 by MT-Electronic and the FB4 line of media servers from Pangolin Laser Systems. Winning was the Sparkular FX Machine by Sparktacular.

There were also two honorable mentions in the category of best debuting product: staging and rigging: the DMX Scenery Rotator, Track Runner, and Winch 10 LX from Rose Brand and ZFX's Kabuki Drop. Winning were the Halo and Sky-Net fall protection systems from Total Structures.

Cited for honorable mention in the category of best debuting product: projection, was the Datapath FX4-SDI from Green Hippo (distributed in the US by TMB).The winner was the V3W large-format LED tile from Square V.

In the category of best debuting product: lighting, honorable mention went to MSTRIX by PanelOLED Ltd. The winning automated fixture was the Proteus Beam from Elation Professional. The winning conventional fixture was the Chroma-Q Color Force 2.
