Fire Department Forces Fire Sale of TV, Movie and Set Props On Tuesday, May 17, Florida' largest event production company, ME Productions, is throwing open its doors for the first time in its 30-year history for a once-in-a-lifetime auction of its inventory of handcrafted props. The collection includes life-sized set décor used on TV shows, for theatre production, corporate stages, and movie sets as well as private, over-the-top galas and functions. The Broward County Fire Marshall has dictated that the company headquartered for over 30 years at 2000 SW 30th Avenue, Pembroke Park, must greatly reduce inventory from its 30,000-sq.ft. warehouse by May 20 in order to comply with new county fire codes. In response, ME Productions rented the building next door that once housed a City Furniture store and has taken over the space for one month. The ME Props are turning the empty showrooms into over-the-top settings featuring an array of props that include anything from jumbo size Tiki gods; Halloween ghoul props; miniature castles big enough for a party; surround-a-ballroom scenic panels; and entire reproductions of Hollywood type sets. It's a treasure trove of high end entertainment gear from lights, sound equipment and seating and chair arrangements. Suitable buyers for the auctioned items include hotels, restaurants, country clubs, theaters, other event production houses and businesses. Non-profits and individuals are also welcomed to view and bid. A viewing will be held from 9-11am. The auction starts at 11am.
