Duran Audio's AXYS Installed in Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama' Richard Burton TheatreDuran Audio UK has recently supplied AXYS Scope T2115 (three-way full range loudspeakers) and AXYS B-07 (18" subwoofers) to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) for use in the Richard Burton Theatre, located on their site in the centre of Cardiff. The delivery of AXYS loudspeakers for the Richard Burton Theatre is a continuation of the relationship between the college and Duran Audio UK. For many years Duran Audio UK has supported the college with products for their Summer Ball and also conducted classes on array technology. The RWCMD already owns 16 AXYS Flex series loudspeakers which are used as sound effect and playback loudspeakers for both teaching and performances. Ian Evans, senior lecturer in technical theatre and production, explains the rationale behind the decision: "The first audio to be heard in the new Richard Burton theatre was the original recording of Richard Burton performing the radio production of Under Milk Wood. The words "to begin at the beginning" delivered with perfect clarity through the AXYS system sent shivers down the spines of the expectant audience." Evans continued, "We chose AXYS for two reasons. Firstly, the very open and transparent sound that the system produces and when combined with U 12's and 14's we can produce exciting surround within the auditorium. Secondly, we decided on Duran Audio because of the support they give us. They are always at the end of a phone whenever we need them and always willing to give help and advice. We have had a good relationship with Duran Audio over the years and their speakers systems have just got better and better. They have helped us in the past with our Summer Balls and even the pre-production of the national tour of Quadrophenia. AXYS was the natural choice for the Richard Burton Theatre."
