RCF Supports Special Olympics USA Olympic Town StageThe 2014 Special Olympics USA Games was the largest national games undertaking by the organization with this year's event June 16 - 20 including 16 different sports competitions with over 5,000 athletes and more than an estimated 70,000 spectators. RCF partnered with Windsor, New Jersey-based Reid Sound (www.reidsound.com) in providing the sound system for the Olympic Town Entertainment Stage. The College of New Jersey, acted as the site for the Olympic Town, which served as the hub for all the events held at various locations throughout the area. The Olympic Town was given a boardwalk theme with sand placed in front of the stage to create an artificial beach and a wooden boardwalk over 150' long ran through the center of the venue. The stage was host to multiple bands, magicians, dance troupes, and a variety of other performers each day. The system configuration included four dB Technologies DVA-T8 three-way active line array boxes ground stacked on top of two DVA-S10DP 18" active subwoofers per side, with RCF TT25-A 15" active two-way cabinets used as stage monitors and NX15-SMA 15" active speakers as fills. Additional satellite sound was provided with RCF HD10-A 10" active two-way cabinets. "We can't thank RCF enough for their participation," says Reid Sound owner Darren Sussman. "This was a huge event that required an intense amount of planning and coordination, and I am grateful for RCF pitching in. There was not even a moment of hesitation from RCF to participate." Reid Sound has built a reputation over the past 15 years providing professional audio-video service, event production, and installation solutions in the New Jersey area. Recently, Reid Sound has expanded its commitment to community partnership by launching the Reid Sound Scholarship for Theatrical Technicians, an annual award to recognize the achievements of those high school students who have participated and wish to continue their education in the arena of theatrical production.
