Christmas Capital of Texas Remains Festive and Safe with Lightware Lab's Projection Mapping Capabilities

North west of Dallas is a town dubbed the "Christmas Capital of Texas" where for 40 days during the holidays Grapevine, Texas transforms into a winter wonderland of holiday lights, decorations, and various Christmas events. Every year, the town hosts a parade of lights, creates a North Pole Neighborhood, and designs a magical boardwalk experience down Main Street.

At sunset, the town is really brought to life with a show stopping City Hall Light Show Spectacular. The nightly program showcases an LED light show and projection mapping production synced with holiday music to create a festive experience for the entire family. This year, Camron Ware -- founder of Lightware Labs -- and his team worked with the City of Grapevine to create a mesmerizing show using Maxell projectors.

Ware has worked with the City of Grapevine on the Christmas Capital events previously, but this year, the town included more projection aspects and expanded the run from Thanksgiving into the new year. With just three weeks to design and install the projection mapping project, Lightware Labs was able to produce a dazzling show using five Maxell MP-WU8701 projectors.

"The great thing about this project is that everything is automated -- everything turns on and off by itself in-sync with the soundtrack," says Ware. "We have the five projectors turned vertically on their sides and projecting onto the City Hall for the show. The intuitive technology in the Maxell projectors allowed me to install the equipment and seamlessly create a projection map template that our animation team filled with media to be projected onto the building."

Maxell's 360-degree rotation capabilities allow for upside-down and vertical installations such as Ware's installation for City Hall. Other features, including color managing technology, high dynamic contrast range (HDCR), and Accentulizer, which come standard in many Maxell projectors, ensured that this installation provided clear, vivid imagery that moved in sync with the holiday music.

"It's great to see that we can still provide holiday entertainment in a safe and creative way," notes Ware. "I have turned to Maxell for my projection mapping needs time and time again and this project was no different. We were able to create a dazzling City Hall installation here at the Christmas Capital."

The hour-long spectacular LED and projection mapping production ran each night from November 23rd to January 10th at City Hall in Grapevine, Texas.
