John LaBriola, Lighting Designer, Dies at 40Concert touring lighting and production designer John LaBriola died April 24; he was 40. An admired and much-loved member of the entertainment industry, he had amassed a string of impressive credits in the last decade. Among them he was production designer and programmer for Mary J. Blige's Love and Life and The Breakthrough tours and the Backstreet Boys' Never Gone tour; production designer for Demi Lovato's Don't Forget tour as well as her self-titled 2009 tour; production designer and lighting programmer for the Jonas Brothers' 2009 tour and Justin Bieber's My World 2.0 tour; lighting designer and director for Charlie Sheen's Violent Torpedo of Truth tour; lighting director for Chris Brown's Fortune World tour; lighting director and programmer for How to Destroy Angels' 2011 tour; programmer and lighting director for Blink-182's 2011 tour; production designer and programmer for Angels and Airwaves' 2011 tour and Phoenix's current tour; and lighting director for Bruno Mars' current tour. He is survived by his wife Ellen, daughter Sophie, and several other family members. A memorial fund to benefit Sophie and Ellen has been set up on the You Caring website, which is listed below.
