PLASA and MIA to Host IR35 and Brexit Event

PLASA, the lead association for the entertainment technology industry, is teaming up with the MIA (Music Industries Association) to co-host a free-to-attend event on IR35 and Brexit updates, taking place in London January 30. Professionals from across the entertainment technology and music industries are invited to RSVP as soon as possible to secure their free place.

The event will see business and HR experts take to the stage to deliver vital information on how to prepare for upcoming changes to both Brexit and off-payroll working rules (IR35). The first confirmed speaker is Nicky Gleadow, managing director for The HR Point who will detail how the IR35 updates may affect employers and contractors. More speakers will be announced soon.

IR35 is a piece of UK government legislation which aims to determine whether a worker is an employee or contractor, ensuring that the person carrying out the work is paid and protected in the proper manner and that both parties pay the relevant tax. The changes to IR35, which begin on April 6, 2020, mean that all medium and large companies -- in both the public and private sectors -- will be responsible for deciding the employment status of their workers.

"Get your business ready: IR35 and Brexit" is taking place at the Victory Services Club, London, on Thursday, January 30, from 11:00am - 3:00pm. The venue is located two minutes' walk from Marble Arch underground. To book your free ticket visit ir35-brexit.eventbrite.co.uk.
