Clay Paky on Tour with the "27 Club" and the History of MusicAfter the huge success of the "27 Club" at the St. Pauli theatre in Hamburg, Germany, the show has embarked on a tour that will stop off in Vienna and Berlin before returning to Hamburg once again. With "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix, "(I can't get no) Satisfaction" -- the Stones' classic, "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin, and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" -- Nirvana's grunge anthem, there is no doubt the 27 Club embodies the milestones of the history of music. Patrick Woodroffe and Roland Greil have been appointed as lighting designers, as they were at the St. Pauli theatre. Greil, who is also in charge of programming, has chosen nine Clay Paky Sharpy Washes, a grandMA2 light console, an MA Network Processing Unit (NPU), grandMA2 onPC software as backup, and a Robert Juliat Aramis. He commented: "As far as the grandMA2 is concerned, I can definitely say that it has no rivals on the market at the moment in terms of reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness. For precisely this reason, it was my first choice once again! The same goes for the Clay Paky Sharpy Washes, which are unbeatable precisely because of their extraordinary power packed into such a compact body." "We had to create the most flexible lighting design possible, on a par with the many themes touched by the show." This was, in Greil's opinion, the first challenge to overcome when putting on the show. "We go from glittering sets and classic static rock 'n' roll stages right up to modern dynamic feels. It is precisely this musical variety stemming from several eras and stylistic trends that makes the production so compelling!" "The venues that host the show impose a fairly classic set-up," Greil continued. "The rig consists of a front truss, three intermediate trusses, and one rear truss, plus two scenic trusses. In addition, there is also a floor set with spotlights. The stage is closed at the back by a black backdrop on a king track system and a screen for projections." Toby Gough is the director of the show, which is produced by BB Promotion and Collien Theater & Konzert GmbH. Cologne-based Showconcept Veranstaltungstechnik provided the lighting equipment.
