Johnson Systems Inc. Acquired by a Private Investor Group

Calgary, Alberta-based lighting controls manufacturer Johnson Systems announces that it has been acquired by a private investor group.

Shaun Johnson, the company's founder, says, "After 37 years, it was time for me to step back and let new talent take control of the day-to-day operations. All existing staff will be retained and I will remain full-time with a focus strictly on technical project sales and product development, which are what I enjoy the most. JSI will continue business as usual with all existing product lines and increased efforts toward new products."

Johnson began his career in 1985 at Electro Controls (acquired by Strand Lighting in 1986). In 1987, Johnson then founded Hi-Power Lighting Services Ltd., which specialized in servicing, commissioning, and repairing gear from major lighting manufacturers. After acquiring a new facility in 1995, the company was renamed Johnson Systems. The company is known for Presidor line of control products. Johnson Systems has been busy of late, adding a wall station to the Presidor product range, introducing the EDI-60 control upgrade for EDI Mark VII dimmer racks last November, and launching the redesigned ENVY 2 processor for Strand Environ 2 dimmer racks in June.
