Len Auerbach Named Fellow of ASTCAuerbach Pollock Friedlander | Auerbach Glasow French announces that S. Leonard Auerbach, FASTC, IALD has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Theatre Consultants (ASTC). The organization was founded in 1983 to create a forum for collaboration and as a vehicle for sharing members' knowledge and experiences of design and technologies for the performing arts, entertainment, and theatre industries. As a founding member and its first president, Auerbach was instrumental in guiding the organization through the early years of its development. His leadership of ASTC, together with his own professional practice, has enhanced and contributed to the national and international recognition of the theatre consulting profession. Auerbach began his career as a scenic and theatrical lighting designer in New York City and at regional theatres. In 1968, he left his position as resident lighting designer at the Tyrone Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota and joined the consulting firm of Bolt, Beranek, and Newman in New York City, later becoming the director of theatre consulting services in their San Francisco office. In 1972 he formed his own practice, Piacentini/Auerbach, which later became S. Leonard Auerbach & Associates, then expanded into Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, Performing Arts/Media Facilities Planning and Design and Auerbach Glasow French, Architectural Lighting Design and Consulting. During the past 45 years Auerbach has provided professional design and consultation on hundreds of projects worldwide. He has had the privilege of collaborating with innumerous architects and clients in designing and developing innovative solutions for performance venues. The company says many of his groundbreaking theatre technologies have been embraced as standards in the industry. Auerbach says he is very honored to have his contributions recognized by his ASTC colleagues.
