Syncrolite Celebrates 30 Years with Fantastic First Quarter 2014Syncrolite marks its 30th anniversary as an entertainment/architectural lighting manufacturer with postings of a jam-packed first quarter and more expansion news for 2014. Dave Keighley, chief operating officer/executive vice president sales, said this anniversary year at the company has come with a "fantastic start." Along with a slate of high-profile events and concert tours, Syncrolite is expanding in all the right ways. "Since January 2013, we've expanded the management team and now it's logical to expand our sales efforts," Keighley said. To meet the demand for their large format lighting products, Syncrolite is partnering with Greg Smith at ArcLight FX in Burbank, California, for an equipment depot. "We already have a product depot to make equipment available on the East Coast with Brad Hafer at Atomic Lighting in Lititz, Pennsylvania. We have our most popular SLX 7000W Xenon skylight fixtures there, so we wanted to make our equipment more available on the west coast as well," Keighley explained. To help with this new west coast location, Syncrolite seeks to hire another sales/project manager to be based in Los Angeles or in the company headquarters in Dallas. Europe and the UK are also new targets for a product depot in light of increasing demand. "We have a good base of Syncrolite-trained people in the UK and Europe, so it's a matter of finding the right place, what products to place there, and how many," he said. "Lighting designers have been increasingly specifying Syncrolite's products -- including our Xenon Skylight fixtures the XL, SXL, MX4, and color-changing metal halide fixture Arena Color for this busy first quarter." Listing the highlights, Keighley points out tours with Kanye West in the US and Drake in Europe, followed by the Red Bull Crashed Ice event -- which featured 100 Syncrolites illuminating the center of Quebec City. A corporate event with Canada's Bombardier Recreational Products had Syncrolite working with Blackout Design to shine on snowmobiles, ATVs, watercraft, and other outdoor products. Supplying "the brightest lights for the biggest nights," Syncrolites recently flooded beams into two massive stadiums. Three weeks of nightly Houston Rodeo concerts, watched by more than 300,000 people in March, helped lighting designer John Dickson and LD Systems fill the air at Reliant Stadium. Meanwhile, at the New Orleans Superdome, WrestleMania marked its 30th anniversary in a sold-out event using more than 120 Syncrolites for lighting designer Jason Robinson. March Madness continued with events supporting the NCAA's Final Four college basketball tournaments in Dallas. The Dallas-Fort Worth landscape was punctuated with Syncrolites in multiple locations, mostly deploying the XL 8000W and SXL 7000W xenon skylights. Lights on the three-day March Madness Reunion Festival at Reunion Park pumped up the excitement for free concerts with Bruce Springsteen, The Killers, Tim McGraw, and Jason Aldean, among others. To highlight the area, Dickson designed the Syncrolites to blast high beams onto the park's Reunion Tower mast from 600' away and created many sky beam looks overhead. At the nearby AT&T Stadium in Arlington, more Syncrolite fixtures drew eyes to the action within. Related architectural events included lighting a 365' high sponsor banner of a Coca-Cola bottle on the W Hotel in Dallas and color-washing the front of the Dallas Morning News Building downtown as well. "It's a great way to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary in this industry," Keighley noted. "With the growth of the company, and now expansion with our sales team and equipment to cover more territories, it's exciting moving the company forward."
