Christie Technology Welcomes Passengers to Buffalo Niagara AirportTravelers using Buffalo Niagara International Airport are receiving information in a more visually impactful way thanks to Christie technology and Stampede's installation of a Christie Velvet LED video wall and LCD panels inside the terminal. With advertising content controlled by the Christie Spyder X20 and Christie Phoenix video processors, passengers can also quickly pinpoint local attractions courtesy of Lamar Advertising. Conceived by Stampede president and COO Kevin Kelly, the goal was to create a visually appealing way to welcome visitors to the Buffalo Niagara region and to highlight Stampede's growing global success. "Stampede is based in Amherst, New York and is a home grown success story," Kelly explained. "We draw upon the talents and resources of this community to ensure our continued growth, and we want to let everyone know that the company is now a global leader in the distribution of pro AV system solutions." The displays had to be reliable, bright, and clear -- both up close and far away -- so Stampede turned to Christie make their vision a commercial reality. "To bring this idea to life, we needed to work with a world-class provider of visualization solutions and a forward-looking out-of-home advertising partner who would see the benefits of collaborating to make this idea possible," said Kelly. Following a month of designing and planning the project, Christie's technical team began the actual installation of a 15' tall by 20' wide Christie Velvet LED video wall with a 2.5mm pixel pitch, situated in the airport's entrance gate atrium, and a narrow-bezel three-by-three matrix of Christie flat panels at the airport's baggage claim exit. Both were specifically selected and custom-configured to fit their designated locations with each highlighting Stampede's global reach in rotation with local merchant advertising. Craig Werynski, Stampede's vice president of operations, said the Christie LCD display in the baggage claim area is ideal for drawing the attention of Buffalo visitors exiting the airport. "This display is extremely eye-catching," he added. "It's the brightest welcome to all who are entering Buffalo, and it's a reminder that our city is home to the most cutting-edge technology in the country." The Christie LED video wall met both the airport and Stampede's every need. "Christie was the ideal manufacturer to work with on this project because of how reliable and heavy duty their LED video walls are," Werynski said. "We required a video wall that would be bright enough to counter the flood of natural light coming in from the atrium's windows. We had to be sure that the display's images wouldn't fade out or disappear." In addition to adding two bright digital signage displays in Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Lamar now has additional advertising platforms they can market to local advertisers while Stampede has an ongoing ability to speak directly to the Buffalo community. "The Christie team did this, and it's a great example for partners who do not have their own technical team. Christie professional services did an outstanding job. The level of detail, several site visits, and the planning were all executed well. Christie professional services can do it all, even in such a challenging environment. Your engineering team is great. They did an excellent job," Kelly concluded. Christie Velvet lets users harness the power of efficient, high-impact LED video walls to engage clients and customers, share information, and entertain in unique ways.
