Audio Formula and KIVA Team Up in Miami Two years after first investing in an L-ACOUSTICS KIVA system comprised of a dozen KIVA and four KILO enclosures, Audio Formula of Miami has now doubled its inventory of the ultra-compact array and low-frequency extension elements. This purchase was accompanied by the addition of four more KUDO line source enclosures, four SB18 and four SB28 subs, six coaxial 115XT HiQ wedges and two LA-RAK touring racks. At the same time, Audio Formula upgraded all of its LA8 amplified controllers with new AES I/O cards. The L-ACOUSTICS gear is being shared between the company's Miami, Florida and Bogotá, Columbia locations. According to Audio Formula CEO Nick Assunto, the KIVA and KILO elements excel both as stand-alone arrays and complements to much larger systems. "The KIVA-KILO systems are fantastic little arrays for our corporate clients when doing shows for less than 2,000 people, as well as for our house of worship customers where rigging requirements and ceiling heights can often be an issue," he says. "But they also work equally as well when used with our big KUDO system. For example, we recently flew 12 KIVA as a center array between two nine-box KUDO arrays on Andrea Bocelli's performance for 3,000 people at the Gran Salón de Corferias in Bogotá and it sounded incredible. They're very easy to fly and remarkably powerful for their size. Everyone is always amazed by how much SPL comes out of a box that small." Audio Formula reports that its KIVA system has been in high demand lately. All 24 of its enclosures were recently deployed in Curaçao as a huge 5.1 surround system to preview the newest Latin American TV shows from E!, History Channel, Disney, MGM, ESPN and other VC Medios cable channels to its executives and marketing teams. Here in the States, the company supplemented its KUDO system with KIVA and KILO for a Fourth of July celebration concert in Miami Beach featuring Fatboy Slim. Just prior to that event, Audio Formula had flown KUDO with KIVA-KILO arrays as sidefills for Marco Witt's 25th anniversary concert and tour kickoff at Miami's American Airlines Arena. Now carrying a total of 48 KUDO line source enclosures, 36 SB28 subs, 14 LA-RAK touring racks and 14 coaxial 115XT HiQ stage wedges - in addition to its 24 KIVA and eight KILO - Audio Formula keeps its L-ACOUSTICS systems busy in both North and South America. A recent highlight for the company included the deployment of a KUDO system for a 10,000-fan Miley Cyrus concert at Bogotá's Coliseum Cubierto El Campin in May. "Our entire loudspeaker and amplifier inventory here at Audio Formula is 100 percent L-ACOUSTICS," adds Assunto. "Running LA Network Manager with our LA8s makes system setups so incredibly easy and fast, and we are extremely happy with the results of every show." http://www.audioformula.com
