Bob Johnston, VP for Christie Lites Sales division, passed peacefully with his family by his side, on December 2 at the age of 61.

Johnston's extensive career in the professional lighting and entertainment industry began in 1976 and spanned over 40 years, working in theatre, TV / Film, and the Music and Event sectors.

For the past two decades Johnston was at the heart of Christie Lites Sales.

His wealth of knowledge and experience which he wholeheartedly contributed to the companies and industry organisations he worked for, has left a long-lasting legacy. In 2010, Johnston's renowned passion for the industry saw him being awarded the Dieter Penzhorn Memorial Award which is awarded to an individual who has provided significant and sustained service to the Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology, while playing an active role in the development of the greater Canadian cultural community.

So many of Johnston's industry colleagues will remember him for his generous guidance and wisdom that made an imprint in their own career paths...that and his legendary firm handshake, which was something that you did not forget!

"The industry has suffered a great loss and he will be missed by all who knew him. He had a big personality and an even bigger heart," says Claudia Pfaffinger, CEO Christie Lites Sales.

"Bob was a larger-than-life leader who knew how to connect with people. A talented professional who achieved unparalleled success in Canada. I had the privilege to work with Bob for many years during which time he made a significant contribution to my growth as a leader. We became close friends and I am one of the many who will miss him dearly," says Huntly Christie.

Beloved husband of Karen, loving father of son Ryan and daughter Stephanie. Proud grandad of Alexandria and Isla and dear brother of Mark. Johnston is remembered by his extended family alongside so many friends and professional colleagues.
