SGM Boosts Distribution In South America SGM has further boosted its overseas distribution network with the appointment of the firm Italo Trading, LLC. The company will take responsibility for sales in Central America and the following countries for South America: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. "Due to its great knowledge of the local markets, Italo Trading will substantially reduce the distance between our factory in Italy and the Latin American market," stated SGM's area manager, Antonio Parise. "It is a pleasure to welcome a firm with that experience on board." Italo Trading owner and founder, Daniel Costa Salomao, is certainly well qualified, having started in the pro audio industry in September 1997 working with Selenium Loudspeakers in Brazil. He then moved to USA to open and manage the company subsidiary and build the Selenium brand. In late 2005, he joined the B-52 Professional family company in Los Angeles, where he again played a hugely influentially role in building global brand exposure. The much-travelled marketer then moved to Italy to manage International sales for Proel SpA, before deciding to settle in Miami, Florida and set up his own Italo Trading brand marketing company. Salomao, who has a bachelor's degree in international business and is fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, said, "It was an organic process to enter the lighting industry as my customers are constantly asking me to recommend lighting products to their projects." SGM had been a natural choice, he said. "It is a great company and historically has done extremely well internationally. However, the fact that the company has a new creative R&D department was a key factor in my decision."
