Introducing ADJ's Focus Flex Lightning fast, packed with features, and extremely bright, the new Focus Flex from ADJ Lighting is a versatile moving head luminaire capable of creating wash, beam, and pixel effects. Designed to provide lighting designers with both flexibility and creative potential, it is ideal for event production and rental applications as well as for permanent installation in concert halls, theatres, nightclubs, and churches, the company says. The Focus Flex is the latest addition to ADJ's Focus Series of LED-powered moving head fixtures. It is powered by an array of seven potent 40W 4-in-1 RGBW color mixing LEDs positioned behind a precision-engineered lens assembly. Through mixing the intensity of the red, green, blue, and white primary LED colors, a huge gamut of output colors can be created to suit any mood or desired look. In addition, by controlling the seven LEDs independently, the fixture can be used to generate impressive pixel-mapped effects. For applications where DMX channels are limited but some pixel control is still required, both 5-zone and 3-zone DMX control mode options are also available. Motorized zoom allows the beam angle of the Focus Flex to be altered remotely between a wide 35° (57° field angle) and narrow 4° (6° field angle), which allows it to be used for creating both broad washes and concise beams. The fixture's extremely quick motor movement allows for the creation of stunning high-impact aerial effects, while 16-bit fine motor control ensures precise positioning. The fixture is pre-programmed with 64 color macros to aid quick programming and also features a convenient Virtual CMY mode, which allows control alongside native CMY color mixing fixtures using hardware/software CMY color picker/pallete tools. It also offers Virtual Foreground and Background Color Wheel control as well as white light output with variable color temperature of between 2,700K to 10,000K. This can be accessed either via linear control or a collection of 10 convenient presets. All of the LEDs used to construct the Focus Flex are color calibrated to ensure uniform output of fixtures from different batches. These energy efficient LEDs offer a long average operational life of 50,000 hours, which effectively removes the inconvenience and expense of lamp replacement. Other advantages of LED technology include reduced heat -- which helps to ensure the temperature doesn't become uncomfortably hot for performers on stage -- and reduced power consumption -- the maximum draw of the fixture is just 340W @ 120V. A large backlit LCD menu display, with six corresponding push buttons, is located on the front panel of the fixture. It facilitates easy DMX addressing as well as customization of the fixture's various operating parameters. The unit offers a choice of seven DMX Channel Modes (16 / 25 / 34 / 42 / 50 / 25 [CMY] and 28 [CMY]) and also boasts a USB service port, located on the front panel, which can be used to easily load future firmware updates. The fixture offers a wide variety of customizable options, allowing it to be tailored to a user's personal preferences or the specific requirements of a particular application. These include five selectable dimming modes (Standard, Stage, TV, Architectural, Theatre & Theatre 2), four selectable Dimming Curves (Square, Linear, Inverse Square & S. Curve) and adjustable Dimming Speed (between 0.1 and ten seconds). In addition, the LED Refresh Rate can also be adjusted using ten presets (ranging from 900Hz to 25,000Hz) to eliminate flicker for broadcast or video capture applications and fan speed can be limited (independently for the head and base) for applications where near silent operation is required. All these customizable parameters can be altered via DMX as well as directly from the LCD menu interface. Locking power input and thru connections are included on the rear panel, allowing the power supply for multiple fixtures to be connected to a single outlet. The rear of the unit is also home to 5-pin DMX input and output sockets as well as a wireless transceiver compatible with ADJ's WiFLY EXR wireless DMX protocol, allowing it to receive a DMX signal wirelessly from a compatible WiFLY transmitter or another WiFLY-equipped fixture over a distance of up to 2,500' / 700m (line of sight). The fixture also supports the RDM protocol, which allows for remote DMX addressing and the feeding back of fixture operating status information to a compatible DMX control solution. Weighing in at just 15.5lb (7kg) and with compact dimensions of 9.17" x 6.97" x 13.8" / 233mm x 177mm x 349mm (LxWxH), the Focus Flex is convenient to store, transport, and rig. Its small size will save valuable truss real estate while it's low weight will maximize the number of fixtures possible when rigging weight is limited. Rubber feet mean that the unit can be placed directly onto a stage or riser, while the supplied omega bracket can be easily attached to allow for truss mounting. "ADJ's small but mighty new LED wash fixture is ready to flex its muscles and has already made its debut at a festival in Europe, the first of what are sure to be many appearances on stages of all sizes worldwide," enthuses ADJ USA's national sales manager, Alfred Gonzales. "We pre-sold a lot of Focus Flex units before they came into stock on the strength of demonstrations at recent tradeshows on both sides of the Atlantic and, now they are shipping, this looks to be a very popular fixture. Offering a small footprint, fast movement, punchy output, wide zoom range and full pixel mapping, it truly is a flexible fixture!" The Focus Flex is shipping now from ADJ distributors and dealers worldwide. The Focus Flex features video can be found here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWkHBYYXFAg.
