Leading event production specialists Showtime Sound LLC were recently called on for the impressive Heilung concert at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. More than a typical concert, Heilung's shows are usually referred to as massive rituals. In these performances, the trio of Kai Uwe Faust, Christopher Juul, and Maria Franz together with their band explore tribal music based on ancient Norse history and mythology in which they display on a grand scale their originality and mysterious forest/Viking environment. Showtime handled the entire US tour, which also included dates at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado and Milwaukee's Riverside Theater.

Showtime continued their reliance on their trusted partners at L-Acoustics, Absen Inc., Tyler Truss Systems, LLC, and Sommer Cable to ensure a flawless event. Marc Chauvin, SSM, MSPM, CTS, Showtime's director of technical operations elaborated on the choice of cabling, "In thinking of transmission systems for audio, lighting, and video distribution, we know that reliability and quality is a must to ensure the high level of productions that we do. Every show is a unique challenge, and that's why we continue to invest and rely on our partnership with Sommer Cable."

In their large-scale theatrical events, Heilung uses a variety of thunderous amplified traditional Scandinavian instrumentation, and the songs are sung in ancient languages such as Old Norse, Old English, and Old Saxon. Heilung is celebrated internationally at 10,000+ size concert halls and outdoor amphitheaters.

In numerous large-scale events such as this, Sommer Cable has become a central element at Showtime. "When we build out and integrate our systems," Kyle Shearer, production and design technician, explains, "we use Sommer's Mercator CAT7 line for multi-channel ethernet-based snake solutions. Typically using single, two-channel and, in this case, four-channel versions, we can seamlessly cover up to 125m with solutions that not only work for our day-to-day production needs and our touring clients, but also as the backbone for events such as this complicated Heilung concert for all aspects of production."
