Sound:Check Xpo 2016: The Magic Behind the ShowMexico City's World Trade Center opens up March 13 - 15 for Sound:Check Xpo -- a three-day exhibition with more than 39,000-sq.-ft. to show the innovations of the showbiz industry from Mexico and all over the world. More than 300 brands will show the latest trends in technology and equipment for stage lighting, live performance, recording studios, and video. Conferences, demo sessions, workshops, and stage production clinics, all surrounded by updates in musical software and hardware production, and contemporary luthier techniques. Every year, Sound:Check Xpo brings a number of activities comprising demonstrations, workshops, with brand specialists and demo rooms production technology trends. For 2016, the Masterclass will introduce the composer, vocalist, and guitarist Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), guitarist Mike Stern (Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker), and Mexican jazz pianist Alex Mercado. Educational features at the Audio Engineering Society Mexico Annual Conference 2016 will bring important personalities who will enrich attendees' experiences: Erin Tonkon (David Bowie, Esperanza Spalding, The foo Fighters), Thomas Lund (researcher in loudness and peak levels of loudness), John Krivit (AES worldwide president), Marcela Zorro (National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, International Music Festival of Cartagena), Andres Millan (president of AES Colombia), Cesar Lamschtein (Placido Domingo, Bajofondo), Maurício Gargel (Maurício Gargel Audio Mastering), Fernando Guzman (live product specialist for SSL), and Jose Rivera (Marc Anthony). The topics will be varied: from live audio, mixing, and mastering basic principles, to record production and the culture of the studio. For the very first time in Sound:Check Xpo, Live Design International (LDI), will present March 13 - 14, an educational program dedicated to professional lighting and projection. With four sessions, Entrenamiento LDI:México, will present Jeff Ravitz (Bruce Springsteen, Cher), lighting designer Valeria Silva, experts from Malak Productions, and products and projects from companies like d3 Technologies and Elation Professional. Finally, the exhibition also promotes various art forms related with the stage and sound, and this year the exhibition hall of Sound:Check Xpo will receive the paintings of Hector Valdivia, which will take attendees to different worlds where the music is present.
