Stage Lighting Super Saturday Set for New York City February 15Sonny Sonnenfeld and Scott C. Parker announce that this year's seminar Stage Lighting Super Saturday selects New York City for its ninth annual seminar. At 8:00am on Saturday, February 15, 2014, the ninth annual Stage Lighting Super Saturday all-day seminar will take place at the conveniently located Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City near Lincoln Center on Amsterdam Avenue and West 65th Street. This year's keynote speaker will be Jennifer Tipton, well-known for her lighting designs for dance, opera, and theatre. She has been nominated for five Tony Awards for theatre lighting and has been awarded two. Tipton also teaches theater lighting at Yale. Once again, this annual seminar is designed for everyone involved in stage, architectural, or entertainment lighting. The organizers say the sessions are not too basic nor too advanced. Everyone who attends will benefit. The intense all day seminar will be led by theatre lighting professionals leading sessions about inspiration, training, product, and just doing it. The seminar is designed for new and advancing stage lighting designers, who do not want to become Broadway lighting designers. Subjects include Stage Lighting 101, conventional luminaires, LED and Arc Source luminaires, color, special effects, consoles, moving lights, and other new topics. Approximately 20 manufacturers and technical specialists will demonstrate equipment. Previous years' supporters included Altman, Rosco, Apollo, ETC, Lee, SeaChanger, Strand, Philips, Robert Juliat, RC4, City Theatrical, ENTTEC, A.C.T Lighting, and more.
