Texas Scenic Company Installs Equipment for Dallas City Performance HallTexas Scenic Company has completed installation of stage equipment for the Dallas City Performance Hall in the Dallas Arts District. The 59,250 square-foot Hall features a 750-seat proscenium theatre, a multilevel lobby, function space, backstage support spaces, and offices. It will serve as a central performance venue for emerging and mid-sized arts groups across the city. The design team included theatre consultants Schuler Shook and architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Corgan Associates. TSC was selected to provide the stage equipment. TSC manufactured and installed 13 custom, motorized acoustical banners. The banners are sewn from stunning double sided 24 oz. wool serge fabric. Six of the banners are 67' tall, reportedly some of the largest ever installed. The rigging equipment included 39 Inline counterweight sets, eight motorized line-shaft sets, a motorized speaker hoist system with articulating doors, and one motorized (counterweight assist) framed fire curtain. A motor control system with touch screen and preset controls was designed to provide control for both the motorized rigging, and the acoustical banner system. TSC supplied and installed an ETC SR48AF+ dimmer racks, portable six circuit Smartmodules and networked lighting controls including ETC EOS and Ion 1500 control consoles, stage manager's panel and Paradigm touch screens as well as a complete fixture package. One other exceptional feature is a 60' wide x 30' high RGB Flexi-Flex LED curtain with Pharos controller. This full motion LED screen is located downstage of the front curtain and provides local artists a presentation format for stunning lighting effects which are presented prior to or during stage performances. Additional equipment included Wenger Diva Concert Enclosure with custom wood finish and gala orchestra pit lift. Rigid tormentors with matching custom wood finish used to narrow the proscenium opening were built and installed by Texas Scenic. Specialty lighting included an orchestra pit edge lighting protection system, a cue light system and a GDS BluesSystem, a DMX-controlled, working light system installed across the stage galleries, auditorium catwalks and followspot booth. The building was built by McCarty Building Company.
