Chauvet Professional Introduces COLORado 1-Quad Zoom TourBuilding on the demand among lighting designers for its COLORado 2-Quad Zoom Tour RGBW wash fixture, Chauvet Professional has introduced a more compact version, the COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour. The new PAR-style unit offers the same premium features -- such as quad-color LEDs, a wide-ranging zoom, and multiple dimming curves -- but it's sized to meet the needs of smaller productions and venues. "Our customers kept telling us they loved everything about the COLORado 2-Quad Zoom Tour -- from its brilliant output and vibrant colors, to the great versatility provided by its zoom and selectable dimming curves," said Ben Dickmann, product manager for Chauvet Professional. "So we decided to offer it in a scaled-down model designed for applications that don't require quite as much brawn. Basically, the COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour is a 'one'-sized version of our '2'-Quad Zoom Tour -- it's smaller and more lightweight, which makes it a breeze to transport and set up. But it has the same professional quality and versatile design features." Although more petite than its predecessor at just 15lb (6.8kg) and 13.14" x 9.25" x 7.48" (334 x 235 x 190mm), the COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour delivers a substantial amount of punch for its size. Equipped with seven 15W Quad-Color LEDs (red, green, blue, white), it emits an impressive output of 3,358 lux at 5m (8-degree beam angle). Like the original, the COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour provides exceptionally smooth and accurate RGBW color blending, which can be done either manually or via DMX. It features a broad color temperature range of 2,800K to 10,000K, with built-in color temperature presets. The COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour is as versatile as its larger cousin too, equipped with the same professional tools that make it easily adaptable to different design needs and applications. Primary among these features is a variable 8- to 30-degree zoom, controllable manually or via DMX, which gives designers the option to use the unit as a wash or a beam -- or both in the same rig. For added programming flexibility, the COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour offers multiple selectable dimming curves, featuring 16-bit dimming resolution for extremely smooth fades. When operated with a DMX controller, users have nine different profiles to choose from (three-, four-, five-, six-, seven-, 10-, 12-. 17-, or 25-channel), covering a wide range of simple-to-complex programming options. With its design and programming versatility, the company says the COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour is ideal for concerts, tours, theaters, nightclubs, productions, exhibits, and events of all types. Ruggedly built, it is equally at home on the road or in permanent installations. Additionally, because it runs very quietly and flicker-free, this steadfast light is great for broadcast rigs and studios too. "Basically, both the COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour and COLORado 2-Quad Zoom Tour are perfect all-around RGBW colorwash lights," summed up Dickmann, "and now lighting professionals can have their choice of sizes." Other features on the COLORado 1-Quad Zoom Tour include built-in automated programs, a variable rate strobe effect (0 to 20Hz), and an accessory holder/gel frame. Featuring auto-ranging multi-voltage operation (100-240VAC, 50/60Hz), the fixture includes Neutrik powerCON power input/output connections and three- and five-pin DMX input, output connections. Up to 14 units can be power linked at 120V, 25 units at 208V, and 27 units at 230V. See Chauvet Professional at PLASA Focus: Orlando, February 17 - 18, 2015.
