Media Networking Alliance Members Participate Extensively in Networked Audio SessionsMembers of the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) -- the professional AV industry alliance established to promote awareness and uptake of AES67 -- are playing a prominent role in the networked audio sessions at this year's International AES Convention, October 29 - November 1, in New York City. On Saturday, October 31, from 1:30 - 2:30pm in room 1A13, MNA chairman and vice president of systems strategy at QSC Audio Products, Rich Zwiebel, is presenting Networked Audio Session N7: Benefits of AES67 to the End User. Zwiebel has a long history in audio networking, not least as a founder of Peak Audio, the company that developed CobraNet, the first widely used audio network for professional audio applications. As a VP at QSC, he continues to be very active in the field. Also on Saturday, from 3:15 - 4:45pm in room 1A14, Andreas Hildebrand, senior product manager at ALC NetworX, is chairing the Networked Audio Session N8: How to Get AES67 into Your Systems/Products. Panelists include MNA member company representatives; Michael Dosch of Lawo Ag, Greg Shay from The Telos Alliance and Arie van den Broek from Archwave AG. The workshop recaps the technical ingredients of AES67 and introduces the principal options for implementing AES67 into new or existing products, providing an overview of commercially available building blocks (modules, software libraries, and reference designs). A final session on Saturday from 5:00 - 6:30pm in room 1A14 - Networked Audio Session N9: How Will AES67 Affect the Industry? - is also chaired by Zwiebel. This is an open discussion with a panel of MNA network audio specialists comprising Arie van den Broek from Archwave AG, Andreas Hildebrand from ALC NetworX, Patrick Killianey, network applications engineer at Yamaha Professional Audio division, Phil Wagner, president of Focusrite Novation Inc. and Ethan Wetzell, platform strategist at Bosch Communications Systems. On Sunday, November 1, from 11:00am - 12:30pm in room 1A12, Kevin Gross, MNA technical working group chairman and head of AVA Networks, chairs the Networked Audio Session N10: AES Interoperability Testing. The panel of Andreas Hildebrand, Peter Stevens from BBC Research and Development and Nicolas Sturmel, head of advanced research at Digigram S.A. were all participants in last year's AES67 PlugFest at the Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT) in Munich, Germany. Together they will summarize the testing performed, present results, and answer audience questions. Additionally, there is a meeting of the AES Technical Committee on Networked Audio Systems (TC-NAS) at 12:00pm on Saturday in room 1A19. More information about TC-NAS is available at http://www.aes.org/technical/nas/ AES67-2015 - http://www.aes.org/publications/standards/search.cfm?docID=96
