Iconic Rat Music Stand Gets MakeoverThe iconic RATstands Opera stand today gets a makeover with a new solid tray and a variable colour temperature light. The new tray is formed from a steel-reinforced sheet of solid black polymer which combines great toughness and rigidity with low weight. Musicians can now annotate their scores without the risk of making a hole in the paper. The Trio LEDlight complements the existing mains LED lights at the top end of the Opera stand options. It enables both light intensity and color temperature to be controlled from the lighting desk. Powerline control ensures that in fixed installations, no additional wiring is required, and in moveable installations or on stage, the lamps can be powered by battery and remote controlled from the lighting desk by radio link. Steve Beeferman, vice president of sales for North America, comments that "the original Opera stand had a tray that was optimized for acoustic performance, but some of our customers attach more importance to the ability to write on their scores, even when they have only one page of music. The new tray option gives them that possibility." The Opera Stand is unique. It was first produced in 1976 and is still the only music stand in the world to feature an integral light, the company says. The light output is held at the perfect distance from the music tray and is carefully controlled so that it falls on the score and nowhere else. Its timeless original design allows the cable to be managed all the way down to the ground and supports full compatibility with its entire range of lights and stand accessories.
