Bose RoomMatch Loudspeakers Offer Precision and Great Sound for Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan, Oklahoma

The Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan, Oklahoma, needed a new sound system, one that would maintain speech intelligibility throughout its 800-seat sanctuary at any volume -- that would reach well into the back of the church and up into its balcony, yet not create reverberations bouncing off of the untreated sidewalls and concrete-and-carpet floor of the church or from its stained-glass sidewalls. A RoomMatch loudspeaker system from Bose Professional Systems met the challenge.

FBP Systems, an AV systems designer and integrator with offices in Tulsa and Las Vegas, used just four Bose RoomMatch modules -- an RM5520, RM7020, RM9020, and RM12020 loudspeaker, and a pair of RMS215 subwoofers -- to create a single point-source cluster mounted above and just ahead of the pulpit that evenly covers all of the church's audience areas. The system was designed and modeled using Bose ControlSpace software, which also continues to monitor and manage the entire new system.

"What the RoomMatch system gives us is the ability to precisely choose a combination of modules based on the exact coverage pattern we need to address," explains Mark LaBouff, national sales manager for FBP Systems in Tulsa. "For instance, at the Immanuel Baptist Church, we needed a wide dispersion pattern at the bottom to cover the main seating area, and a narrower pattern for the balcony areas. And we needed the dispersion to be as precise as possible, keeping the sound on the seats but the energy off of the walls and windows. The RoomMatch array does that, and does it predictably and brilliantly, all from a single cluster."

LaBouff had high praise also for the ControlSpace software, which not only allowed him to create a precise and predictive coverage map of the system but also generated graphics of those coverage patterns that he says are excellent sales tools. "It's a visual sales aid that we always put into our presentations, because the clients can immediately see what we're talking about," he explains. "It's clear and it's effective -- Bose truly offers a comprehensive solution."
