GDS ArcLamp Wins the ABTT Lighting Product of the Year 2014 GDS announces the ArcLamp, awarded the ABTT 2014 Theatre Award for Lighting Product of the Year. ArcLamp is a compact 4.8W LED lamp available in Candle & Golf Ball in both clear and frosted types, the company says. It is designed for chandeliers, circle fronts, and wall-lights. In a neat twist, The Savoy Theatre in London--the first building in the world to be entirely lit by electricity--became the first to install ArcLamp, the company says. In the words of the chief electrician of The Savoy, Chris Keniger: "ArcLamp has ensured that the auditorium not only retains its original atmosphere but in my view, looks the best it has ever looked in my time here." Simon Needle, projects director at WhiteLight Ltd. Says: "The ArcLamp fixtures are show stealers. To have created a low voltage candle-lamp that can be retro-fitted somewhere like The Savoy Theatre and not only be quickly and easily installed but also offers the kind of dimming control that it does, is some achievement. The ArcLamp fixtures enable the theatre to stay true to the intentions of its original interior designers, whilst the warmth of the light actually enhances the outcomes they were seeking. Energy costs are reduced to a fraction without compromising any aspects of the theatre's wonderful character. A win/win if ever there was one." GDS managing director Matt Lloyd says: "For ArcLamp to be recognized with this important award is very satisfying indeed and pays tribute to the hard work of the entire GDS team."
