Russell Tite Reflects on His Recent Experience with a ShowMatch Line Array System from Bose Professional

Front-of-house engineer Russell Tite

Front-of-house engineer Russell Tite recently experienced the Bose Professional ShowMatch line array system while on tour with Catfish and The Bottlemen. "When I first walked into the venue and saw the Bose PA, I was a bit nervous about the sound, as I did not know what to expect," shares Tite. "When I put my usual tunes to it to ring out the system, it sounded great...it just sounded brilliant. The way I was running the desk looked exactly like the way I like to run it, which is a good thing. I did not have to do much tweaking on the graphics on the console. Even on the master bus, the EQ looked standard. I also liked that I had plenty of headroom to work with. We're a very loud band, and the vocals need to cut through. With other systems, I sometimes run out of headroom, but on that ShowMatch system, I didn't at all. Again, I was really impressed."

Tite got his start in the industry the way many audio professionals do today: he began playing guitar at around 14 years of age and caught the music industry bug. After completing secondary school, he attended Sandwell College in the U.K. beginning with a sound engineering course. While at college, he was hired for a gig doing live sound at a small venue called the Rugeley Red Rose Theatre, which had metal and Punk bands playing Friday nights. "I remember it being total madness at first, with me trying to get four bands sound checked before the doors opened. Talk about pressure!" After leaving college, Tite accepted a position with SSE Audio Group, loading trucks and sweeping the warehouse. "I did that for a couple of years and then became freelance and started to go out as a system tech. I got my first FOH job in 2005 and have been doing that ever since, and have worked with bands including The Wombats, Rooster, The Kooks, Billy Ocean, and many more."
