Lighting&Electronics to Close Its DoorsLighting&Sound International has learned that Lighting&Electronics, the Wappingers Falls, New York-based manufacturer of lighting fixtures is closing. In a letter to the company's customers, John Fedigan, president, and Robert Partridge, vice-president, wrote, "It is with reluctance that we inform you that Lighting & Electronics, Inc. will be scaling back its operations over the next 60-90 days. It is our intention, after 60 years of quality manufacturing for the entertainment industry, to close. We know we are making the right decision at the right time with few regrets." They added, "Our primary objective is to make a professional exit from the entertainment industry family specifically and from the business community generally. L&E has always tried to treat its customers and vendors as friends who are working toward a common business goal. During this time, we hope to maintain those same relationships with you." "As part of the transition, we are pleased to announce that Apollo Design Technology, Inc. will be acquiring the L&E clamp business. Apollo will be integrating the Get-A-Grip, HangTuff, and PipeDream clamps into their product offerings. "In addition, L&E will be selling its metal manufacturing production equipment located in Wappingers Falls, New York over the next several months. Finally, we will be selling our finished goods inventory at near cost during the next three weeks. We cannot think of anyone more deserving than the customers who supported us over the years to receive the rewards of these liquidation prices." The company opened for business 42 years ago.
