Sommer Cable Exhibits at Prolight + Sound 2014

Sommer Cable's booth at Prolight + Sound

At this year's Prolight + Sound Sommer Cable once again presented their product portfolio at a large booth. On an area greater than 100sqm visitors could see many products and ideas around the topics of cables and lines, connectors and connection technology, signal processing, as well as mechanical solutions for mobile and permanent installations.

The focus of attention lay on the novelties from the company's in-house brand Cardinal DVM. The popular DVM 120 series is broadened by the single-channel model versions DVM-120-DIS and DVM-120-DISH. Owing to their transformers from Swedish premium maker Lundahl, these high-quality DI boxes offer excellent audio specs in a very compact and solid housing. Already the standard DVM-120-DIS DI box can meet the highest requirements due to very low distortions, a high headroom, and an almost ideal frequency response. The high-Z version DVM-120-DISH with an input impedance of 580kOhms is perfect for musicians or technicians with very high demands.

All new in Sommer Cable's portfolio are installation loudspeakers -- once again from Cardinal DVM. With only three models the compact series covers most application purposes in the installation sector.

The following models are available:
• DVM-SP06C: 6.5" Flushmount ceiling speaker in a low-impedance and 100V version
• DVM-SP0501: 5.25"/1" Heavy-duty compact speaker in a low-impedance (16ohms) and 100V version
• DVM-SP4601: Large sound column with four 6.5" low/mid drivers plus HF unit

The DVM-SP4601 is perfectly suitable for large rooms such as school auditoriums, churches, or lecturing halls, where it produces a very high SPL with an outstanding speech intelligibility.

Peter Rieck commented on Prolight + Sound: "For us the Prolight + Sound has been the most important trade show in awhile both for the musical sector and also in the field of professional event engineering. This can be seen quite clearly in the large number of visitors at our booth and the many expert talks we conducted. We are highly satisfied with this year's fair. Our new products received a very positive feedback and the visitors took our new V6 catalog back home in piles. We are already looking forward to next year's fair."
