PCMA Annual Conference Meets in Nashville with Bandit Lites

Nashville's Municipal Auditorium was the site of the PCMA conference performance by Little Big Town.

Southern hospitality was on full display as the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) convened on Nashville, Tennessee. Hosted by the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau at the historic Municipal Auditorium and featuring a lighting package provided by Bandit Lites, the attendees of this event spent three days networking with their colleagues from around the world and were treated to a performance by Grammy-award winning super group, Little Big Town.

In addition to using the rider from Little Big Town's general stage design, lighting designer Chris Lisle crafted a design that highlighted the Municipal Auditorium itself, utilizing a circle truss to emphasize the dome structure of the building.

"The truss was loaded up with wash and beam fixtures, which we used to light the upper and mid-levels of the venue itself," said Lisle. "We then used more beam fixtures clamped onto handrails between the mid and upper bowl and used these to paint the ceiling with light."

To showcase the variety of shows that have taken place over the history of the venue, Lisle placed LED pars on the floor to light posters of old ticket stubs that adorn the walls of the outer concourse of the auditorium, giving attendees a sense of the magnitude of the space.

Bandit Lites supplied nearly 400 fixtures for the event including Martin by Harman Atomic 3000 Strobes, Philips Vari-Lite VL 3500 Spots, VL 3500 Washes, Elation Professional SixPars, Elation CuePix WW2 and WW4 blinders, Chauvet Professional Freedom Par Quad 4 fixtures, Robe BMFL, Chauvet Rogue Hybrids, while Elation Paladin Strobes and Bandit's exclusive GRNLite Battens lit the ramps up to the auditorium to provide basic scenic and vibe lighting. Two MA Lighting grandMA2 lighting consoles supplied control.

"The Nashville CVC worked hard on this three-day conference and I have no doubt that the 6,000+ attendees left with an amazing impression of Nashville," said Lisle who also noted Bandit's exceptional service at making the event run smoothly. Crew for the conference featured Chas Albea, Patrick Cowden, Craig Richter, Steve Strickland, Ty Veneziano, and Elizabeth Weller.
