Matthew Palumbo Named Technical Coordinator at Las Vegas-based The ActivityThe Activity, the Las Vegas, Nevada-based production and design service for the entertainment industry, announces that Matthew Palumbo has joined the company as technical coordinator. He is responsible for programming, operating, and building previsualizations and for creating 3D renderings for clients. "We are very excited to be adding Matt to the team," says The Activity's principal designer, Patrick Dierson. "He brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the technical and digital elements we deal with, and that only strengthens what we're able to deliver to our clientele on a daily basis. Matt's experience in designing, building, and handling the lighting direction of productions combined with his expertise in a vast array of technologies make him a natural fit for The Activity team." "By all accounts, Matt is still in the infancy of his career and is already delivering at a top level," Dierson adds. "We're hoping to have a long-lasting relationship with him." Born and raised in Coral Springs, Florida, Palumbo began his foray into the entertainment industry at the age of 15. To say that his career accelerated rapidly would be an understatement. Starting out working with lighting for local houses of worship, Palumbo quickly rose to handling lighting designs for mega churches which inevitably led to developing an expertise with the most modern of entertainment technologies. Within a short span, his career rocketed him to participating in some of the world's premier festivals, including the Moonrise Music Festival, the Electric Daisy Carnival, the Ultra Music Festivals, and more. Before joining The Activity, Palumbo served as lighting designer, programmer, and operator for Black Violin, the hip hop stringed instrumentalist duo. Most recently, with The Activity, he was lead lighting programmer and operator for an attraction in Royal Caribbean's Sea Beyond event at the Brooklyn Navy Yard; he also was lead lighting director for the main stage and built previs and show files for the Ultra Buenos Aires festival. "I met The Activity team at Ultra two years ago, and they were great guys," says Palumbo. "The passion that they put into their work was reflected in the show -- they had the same passion I do about this industry. Since then, Patrick has brought me many amazing opportunities to grow not only in my career but also as a person." Palumbo looks forward to improving the quality of MA 3D previs files and rendered conceptual drawings for client approval.
