Elation Professional's New Platinum HFX a Versatile Mid-sized Hybrid Effects Light

The Platinum HFX is a new compact addition to Elation's award-winning family of hybrid beam, spot, and wash luminaires. Designed for a wide variety of professional stage and special event applications, the Platinum HFX rounds out Elation's family of hybrid fixtures, which includes the Platinum SBX and award-winning Platinum FLX, offering clear advantages over traditional multi-function moving heads, the company says.

Featuring new lamp technology and an innovative optical system, the Platinum HFX is designed to do the work of three luminaires in one. The intelligent optical system can mechanically switch between Beam, Spot, and Wash modes quickly and accurately with beam angle range differing in each mode. Beam mode and Spot mode perform under their own independent optical systems resulting in a narrower beam angle and brighter central point in Beam mode (2.3° - 15°), a uniform, clearer, and brighter spot field under Spot mode (3° - 22°) and a higher-quality flat field Wash effect (10° - 34°).

The Platinum HFX uses the new 280W Philips MSD Platinum 14R lamp and can emit up to 12,000 lumens of power, an output comparable to 700W discharge fixtures for substantial energy savings. A superior light quality (7,800K, 80 CRI) and uniform flat field of light with a consistent field is maintained throughout the zoom range, the company says.

The Platinum HFX's full-featured design includes plenty of color and graphics options. It offers 13 dichroic colors including UV and a new quad color (RGBY) filter, as well as CTO and CTB color correction. A variety of useful graphics are housed in two gobo wheels, one with 8 rotating, interchangeable gobos and the other with 12 static-stamped gobos. Beam multiplication for a host of effects can be achieved with the included 8-facet, 10-facet, and infinity linear rotating prisms. A wash frost filter is also included. The Platinum HFX also houses a high-speed strobe, mechanical iris, and an electronic dimmer.

The Platinum HFX is controllable via 3 DMX modes (17/19/26 channels) and includes a 6-button touch control panel with a full-color 180° reversible LCD menu display that makes for easy navigation through DMX and manual settings. The fixture includes a host of other standard features like professional-grade Neutrik 5-pin DMX In/Out and PowerCON In/Out connections along with Art-Net support via RJ45 Ethernet In/Out connections. The Platinum HFX is also RDM (Remote Device Management) ready and houses a universal switch-mode power supply for use anywhere in the world, the company says.
