Dutch trance music DJ and producer Armin van Buuren's radio show A State of Trance (ASOT) has been going strong since 2001 and its 700th episode on June 6th was celebrated in style with a huge live show in Mumbai, India, lit by Elation Professional's new Platinum SBX moving head along with the popular Platinum Beam 5R and ELAR 180 PAR fixtures.

Propelling him to superstardom with trance fans around the world, ASOT attracts 33 million listeners weekly through 100 FM radio-stations in more than 80 countries. A State of Trance milestone is always an occasion to party and ASOT 700, held in association with SUNBURN, saw The Dome in Mumbai decked out in a large intelligent lighting package for performances by Armin van Buuren, Cosmic Gate, Orjan Nilsen, Super8 & Tab, and Ruben De Ronde.

Star Dimensions India Pvt Ltd provided lighting, trussing, and LED screens for the event with lighting design handled by André Beekmans of The Art of Light and lighting operation by Michael Seeverens, also of The Art of Light. Some 54 Platinum Beam 5R moving heads worked with a large LED screen to give visual life to the music from a semi-circular truss and flying bar while 40 ELAR 180 PAR RGBWA lights provided ambience lighting in the arena.

In an example of a performer controlled environment and perhaps a harbinger of things to come, six of Elation's new Platinum SBX hybrid moving heads were used in conjunction with an MYO gesture control system via the lighting console. Armin van Buuren wore an MYO wristband to manipulate the Platinum SBX fixtures, giving him personal control of the beams from wherever he was on stage.
