Dance Network, a subscriber-based, programming service dedicated to all forms of movement and dance as entertainment, exercise, sport, and inspiration, launched its first live streaming coverage with a lighting packaged provided by Bandit Lites for the Ohio Star Ball Championships. The event look place November 19 - 22 and including all major styles of competitive ball room dancing, including American Smooth, American Rhythm, International Standard, and International Latin.

"It's great to be a partner with the legendary Sam Sodano, and to bring these 'live' dance competitions into the homes of dance enthusiasts everywhere via Dance Network," explains David Medeiros, renowned dance instructor and co-founder, Dance Network.

"It's a great opportunity for people who can't travel to see the events in person to experience the action firsthand, as it happens, from anywhere in the world," adds Julie Stadler, co-founder, "and we are excited it to bring it to the masses."

Lighting designer Mark Carver used GLP impression Spot Ones, GLP impression X4S, Martin Professional MAC Auras, Chauvet Professional Rogue R2 Hybrid Beams, Clay Paky Sharpys, and ETC Source 4 luminaires along with hombres Truss Structure to give the commentators' space "shape and presence."

"I tried to utilize fixtures with versatility and control that would provide good background for camera shots," said Carver.

While the Star Ball celebrates ballroom dancing, Carver shared that producers wanted to compliment that ballroom feel with a modern and artistic look. "With this being the kick-off event for Dance Network, I knew it was important to create a dynamic look," said Carver. "We had to make sure we were true to the feel of the new brand by keeping the look fresh and contemporary."

"The Bandit team was great," added Carver, noting support from Bandit's vice president Mike Golden and project manager Matt King. "With lighting director Craig Richter programming and Andy French as lead tech, we had a very successful shoot."
