Elation Turns Up The Power And Design Options While Reducing Fixture Size/Energy Use At LDI2012Lighting professionals are seeking fixtures that deliver greater brightness and more creative tools, while at the same time are smaller in size and energy consumption. Elation Professional is delivering this seemingly contradictory combination of features with products that "go beyond the ordinary" at LDI2012, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center October 18-21. Among the highlights at Elation's LDI booth #1101 will be DMX moving heads that feature new, higher-output Philips Platinum lamps that are incredibly compact in size and low in energy use for the power and brightness they produce, as well as new LED lighting engine source fixtures that are certain to raise the bar. Visitors to the Elation display will also see innovative fixtures that have "surprise" features, which will inspire them to take their designs to new creative heights. These include the new Rayzor series LED beam/wash moving heads as well as the Platinum Wash ZFX Pro / Platinum Wash ZFX Pro XL, which add a zoom and zone chase effect to an RGBW LED wash. There will also be some unique new battery-powered / wireless DMX fixtures like a quad-color uplight series called Volt, as well as an RGB color changing unit that's shaped like a cylinder called the Event Cylinder. Products that are sure to be in the spotlight at Elation's LDI booth #1101: Rayzor Q7 and Rayzor Q12 -- The Rayzor series are new compact, fast, high-output LED beam/wash fixtures designed with new high-efficient narrow seven-degree beam optics and high power 15W quad-color RGBW LEDs, which provide a narrow beam effect with pixel chase effects and control. The units are the most compact, fastest moving heads Elation has made to date -- providing "Rayzor" sharp beams, effects, and movements. Volt -- The Volt series (Volt Q3 and Volt Q5) from Elation are a pair professional grade rechargeable long-life battery-powered portable LED lighting fixtures designed for special event uplighting applications. Housed in an IP65 rated enclosure, the Volt is ideal for indoor or outdoor events. The Volt comes in three or five x 15W quad color RGBW LED sources with HO optic lens. It features a remote charging station as well as "snap on" diffusion filters and built-in wireless DMX receiver in a small, compact, lightweight yet rugged design ideal for all portable on-the-go productions, providing a true "green" lighting design solution. Platinum Beam 15R Pro -- The ultra-compact Platinum Beam 15R Pro takes Elation's Platinum Beam 5R extreme ACL beam effect to the next level of brightness, the company says. Powered by the new Philips Platinum 15R lamp, its searchlight-like beam rivals a 1,200W discharge lamp, yet it consumes a mere 500W at maximum use. Measuring just 13.7" x 14.9" x 22.4", it fits in the tightest spaces and includes a built-in EWDMX wireless DMX receiver that receives signals wirelessly over 3,000' (when used with an optional EWDMX transmitter). Ideal for concerts, stage productions, sports events, churches, and broadcast use, the cETLus-approved unit is also very versatile, featuring a variable frost filter that diffuses its hard-edge 4.8-degree beam, turning it into a two-in-one hybrid wash effect. Its many other design features include: 10 dichroic colors, seven gobos (eight rotating/indexing, nine static), eight-facet prism, variable speed strobe, dual-flag mechanical dimming, remote focus, integrated DMX recorder, 630- / 540-degree pan and 265-degree tilt. Platinum Spot 35 Pro -- After showing a preliminary design at the Frankfurt Prolight + Sound show last March and getting feedback from customers since then, Elation's R&D team has spent the summer perfecting and improving the optics, motors, speed, and smooth movements on this fixture, which now provides 16-bit resolution on all functions and overall performance certain to please even the most discriminating designers. Utilizing the new Philips Platinum 35 lamp and a razor sharp optical system design, the company says the Platinum Spot 35 Pro is an 800W moving head spot that offers extreme output, feature set, and speed for its compact size -- being comparable in brightness to a 1,500W fixture. Its many pro features and effects include: CMY color mixing; variable CTO; color wheel with eight dichroic colors (including UV); large motorized zoom with 8- to 53-degree range; auto-focus / zoom system; 12 rotating/indexing gobos; iris; variable frost, animation wheel effect; and three-facet rotating/indexing prism. It also includes a built-in EWDMX wireless DMX receiver and multi-voltage universal power supply. Platinum Wash ZFX Pro/ Platinum Wash ZFX Pro XL - These RGBW LED color-mixing moving head wash effects have "ZFX" in their name, which stands for zoom and effects. Both feature a motorized zoom and zone chase effects, making them much more high-energy visual effects than the typical wash -- and ideal for the added visual eye candy popular in today's shows. The Platinum Wash ZFX Pro contains 19 x 10W HO Osram quad-color (red, green, blue, white) LEDs. Although its total LED engine is just 190W, it produces an amazingly bright output comparable to 700W discharge fixtures. The Platinum Wash ZFX Pro XL features 37 X 10W HO Osram quad-color RGBW LEDs, for a total LED engine of 370W, yet it rivals a 1,200W wash fixture in output. Both units are ETL listed and CE approved. Event Cylinder -- From modular chandeliers to glowing columns of light, your designs will be limited only by your imagination with this one-foot-diameter tubular-shaped transparent RGB color-changing unit. Battery powered and rated at IP65 for outdoor use, the Event Cylinder can go almost anywhere to add color and excitement. It comes in two versions: wireless DMX (Event Cylinder DMX); and RF with wireless remote included (Event Cylinder RF). ELAR Quad series -- This new series of IP65 outdoor-rated RGBW wash fixtures was built for rugged production use, uplighting, and much more. It utilizes high-power 10W CREE LEDs with quad-color technology for bright output and quality, advanced color mixing, while offering pixel control for LED matrix effects. The series includes four models that can be used stand-alone for a variety of applications, or together as a creative scenic design element for shows: * ELAR Quad Bar -- A half meter (20") bar with four x 10W CREE quad LEDs, a beam angle of 11.5 degrees and field angle of 21 degrees. * ELAR Quad Panel -- A half meter (20" x 20") square panel powered by 16 x 10W CREE quad LEDs, arranged in four rows of four. It features a 12-degree beam angle and 21-degree field angle. * ELAR Quad Par -- A par-style fixture with a 25-degree beam angle, the ELAR contains 9 x 10W CREE quad LEDs and comes with an integrated floor stand/dual yoke bracket for versatile mounting options. * ELAR Quad Strip -- Extending one meter (40"), this elongated strip is equipped with eight x 10W CREE quad LEDs. It has an 11-degree beam angle and 21-degree field angle. All ELAR Quad series model feature both DMX-512 and manual control, as well as RDM protocol integration. They include built-in color macros, 0-100% dimming, a strobe effect as well as pixel control, and all units feature an IP65 rated housing ideal for indoor or outdoor shows. In addition to all the items above, Elation will be introducing quite a few more new product surprises at the show this year that lighting professionals won't want to miss -- all in booth #1101 at LDI.
