LDI Award Winners Announced The LDI 2024 Booth and Product Awards were presented at a breakfast event on the Battle of the Busk Stage on the show floor. New this year, LDI gave an architectural lighting award to the CLP1 from APOLLO MFG, a small-form-factor, 21st-century LED version of the Linnebach projector for the architectural and entertainment markets. The first lighting award went to LUNA BULB by Astera LED Technology GmbH. This color-changing A19 lamp with wireless DMX technology has wide-ranging accessories that allow it to work in multiple solutions; it comes with both line voltage and battery options. The second lighting award went to Elation for the new Paragon system. The award cites product features including lensing to improve shutter smile, lens bumpers, HEPA filters, an IP54 rating, and near-field communication. In other categories, the sound award was given to Allen and Heath for the CQ series of digital consoles. The widget award went to Gig Gear LLC for GIG GLOVES, featuring Kevlar, which makes handling hot equipment safer. The gloves also include a flashlight holder that ensures you can find a dropped moving light screw. The special effects award went to JAGOTEQ laser-powered fiber optic cables. The staging and rigging award went to COUNTERMATE by Protech Rigging, an automated rigging system. The projection and digital media award went to HIVE, a rethinking of the media server paradigm. As is typical, several booth awards were handed out. Robe was cited for the most creative use of light, presenting two separate shows, one with performers and one without. Astera took the best product display award. The small booth award was given to Lex Products for making a Christmas tree out of its products with a mirror ball in its power distro. Honorable mentions went to Rose Brand and X-Laser. Unsurprisingly, the best big booth design went to Blizzard Lighting for its midway theme. A sustainability award went to AOTO RM1.5E Series by Shenzhen AOTO Electronics Co., Ltd. The judges cited the video panel's 30% energy consumption improvement, environmentally responsible circuit design, and choice of modern and efficient backbone components. Pat MacKay Diversity in Design scholarships were given to lighting designers: Kadnyce Morton, Trinity Joseph, and Maribel Gutierrez, and sound designers Faye Widjaja and Dana Freeman.
